Business owners will tell you that the key to success is hiring and retaining the best employees. The same is true at top trucking company, PITT OHIO, who has consistently hired and retained the best workforce of happy and engaged city and linehaul truck drivers for years. Therefore, prioritizing truck drivers and their health and well-being, is how PITT OHIO stands apart from the rest.
We Listen to Understand Which Helps in Prioritizing Truck Drivers
- We respect the hard work our truck drivers do every day. We hold weekly driver meetings and individual discussions we’ve named “Coffee with the Boss.” These discussions seek feedback from our staff about what we are doing well and areas where we need to improve. Ten-year Tractor Trailer Truck Driver, Ken Costic, said, “Our leadership is second to none. Their emphasis on safety and the excellent benefits they provide makes PITT OHIO a great company to work for. Management genuinely cares about everyone here and I’m proud to be a PITT OHIO employee.”
We Prioritize Physical Wellness for Our Truck Drivers
- Equally important, we care about our truck driver’s physical health and well-being. The wellness initiative in place since 2007 educates our truck drivers how to eat right, be fit, and live well. Therefore, after our truck drivers clock in for their shift, everyone participates in a 15-minute stretching program. The stretching program has lowered work injury sprains and strains and has been shown to boost employee moods as well. “The owner is always investing in equipment and practices to make sure we remain safe. I appreciate the family atmosphere we have here at our terminal and the supervisors who help with any challenges that may come up,” said Truck Driver Bill Nealy.
We Lessen Financial Stress
- The leading cause of accidents is distracted driving. A common distraction is unexpected financial hardships. Prioritizing truck drivers means helping our employees. Therefore, we implemented the “Rainy Day Fund” in which an employee deposits a minimum amount to a savings account. If the employee does not withdraw any money from that account after a full year, PITT OHIO gives the employee a bonus incentive. Offering this opportunity to save for an unexpected expense is another way we’re listening to our employees and taking action to help them with their financial wellness. PITT OHIO City Driver, Steve Johnson, said, “From day one, I have felt supported, valued, and challenged in my role. The company culture is truly unique, and it’s evident that the leadership team cares deeply about our well-being and growth.”
We understand how important it is to feel valued by your employer. PITT OHIO is committed to prioritizing truck drivers and listening to our employees to uncover areas for improvement. Therefore, we prioritize our truck driver’s well-being with constructive conversations, initiatives to improve health, and financial planning to lessen the burden of unexpected hardships. If you are searching for a new truck driving job with a company who values and prioritizes its staff, apply at PITT OHIO today!
