Make the Switch to Regional Truck Driving Job Now

When you think of a truck driving job, you probably think of long trips, sleeping in your tractor, and missing time with your friends and family.  That is what one of our best truck drivers, Alex, was going through early on in his truck driving career.  So naturally, a shift to a regional truck driving job appealed to Alex.

Early on in his truck driving career, Alex was responsible for moving trailers around the yard at a local warehouse.  He realized he liked the tractors and wanted to take his career on the road.  Alex’s father worked at Mack Trucks in Allentown, PA.  Although he passed away when Alex was young, he’s seen a lot of pictures of his dad at work. It was an industry that always intrigued him.

From 1987 to 1992, Alex drove Over the Road (OTR) across 26 states and Canada.  After a few years, Alex decided he wanted a change; he wanted to be home more often. After interviewing at a few places, Alex received offers from two companies, and one was PITT OHIO. “I made the right choice,” Alex quickly admitted.

In 1993, Alex married his wife, Tami.  There was a change in his voice when he brought up his wife. Some might call him a true romantic.  A regional linehaul driving job gave Alex the opportunity to be home daily with his wife and the compensation meant vacations to warmer climates.

Today, Alex is a linehaul driver for PITT OHIO and recently reached 3 million miles of safe driving.  Alex joins an elite group of PITT OHIO drivers who can say they’ve driven 3 million miles without an incident or accident.  It’s a testament to Alex’s unwavering commitment, skill, and dedication behind the wheel.

If you’re like Alex and enjoy being behind the wheel, but want to be home more often, explore the truck driving jobs we have available near you.  Work life balance is important to our drivers, so it’s important to us.
