Drivers enjoy a cookout to celebrate Driver appreciation week

Best of the Best Truck Drivers Celebrated During Appreciation Week

National Truck Driver Appreciation week is celebrated every year at the beginning of September. It is a time to honor and appreciate the hardworking truck drivers who deliver our goods safely, securely, and on time, while also keeping our highways safe.  PITT OHIO employes the best truck drivers who earn our respect and appreciation throughout the year because they do the best truck driving job for our company.

Our drivers agree that PITT OHIO has the best truck driver job in the industry. We understand that we are only as good as the truck drivers on the road making pickups and deliveries for our customers.  At PITT OHIO, we extend our appreciation to the additional essential employees who make these pickups and deliveries possible – Our Drivers, Dockworkers, Mechanics, and Building Maintenance staff.  We put our people first, which is important to retaining the men and women we’re proud to have on our team.

Mickey Sattler, Key Person at the Pittsburgh terminal, said, “Our owner really cares about his employees and that’s what keeps me coming back each day. It is the comradery between everyone that makes us special and unique. And you just feel appreciated by the owner!”

Throughout the summer, PITT OHIO celebrates and shows appreciation for our staff with cookouts at each of our locations. The best truck drivers finish their shift with a fresh, hot burger from the grill.  The summer culminates with a grand cookout to celebrate and honor our staff during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week in September.

Pittsburgh City Driver, Jim Badnick, said, “The treatment from ownership says he genuinely cares about all of us.  From the equipment he provides us to drive, our benefits, and our pay, it’s obvious he cares about his employees.”

Truck drivers transport goods across the country, ensuring that we have access to the products and services we need to live our everyday lives. They work long hours, often travel long distances, and face many challenges on the road.

  • There are over 3.5 million truck drivers in the United States.
  • Truck drivers travel an average of 50,000 miles per year.
  • Truck drivers are responsible for transporting over 70% of the goods that we consume.

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is an important time for America to pay respect and thank all the best truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in undertaking one of our economy’s most demanding and important jobs. The next time you see a truck driver on the road, give them a wave and a thank you. They are the unsung heroes of our economy, and they deserve our appreciation year-round.
